String ornaments (Ball / Tree)

Objective

Create beautiful string ornaments in the shape of balls or trees. This project combines creativity with the principles of physics and chemistry to explore the properties of materials and the process of solidification.

Scientific interpretation

When glue dries, it hardens due to the evaporation of water. This process is called solidification. The string absorbs the glue, and as the water evaporates, the glue hardens, making the string stiff and maintaining the shape it was formed into. This project demonstrates how materials can change state from liquid to solid and how we can use this property to create stable structures.
