Shadow Drawing

Objective

The objective of this project is to explore the concept of shadows and how they are formed by light. Students will learn about light sources, the properties of shadows, and how the position of an object and light source affects the shape and size of the shadow. This activity combines art and science in a fun and engaging way.

Scientific Interpretation

A shadow is formed when an object blocks light from reaching a surface. The shape and size of the shadow depend on the position and angle of the light source relative to the object. When the light source is close to the object, the shadow appears larger and less defined. When the light source is farther away, the shadow appears smaller and more defined. Shadows can change throughout the day as the position of the sun changes or when the angle of an artificial light source is adjusted.
