Objective
The objective of this project is to build miniature parachutes using lightweight plastic bags and strings. This project will help students understand the principles of air resistance, gravity, and how parachutes work to slow down the descent of objects.
Scientific Interpretation
When an object falls, gravity pulls it down towards the ground. A parachute works by increasing air resistance, which slows down the fall. The larger surface area of the parachute catches more air, which creates drag and helps the object attached to the parachute descend slowly and safely. This project shows how air resistance and gravity work together.
