Objective
To build a working model of a catapult, understanding the basic principles of energy conversion and projectile motion. This project helps demonstrate how potential energy is converted into kinetic energy, critical in various engineering and physics applications.
Scientific interpretation
A catapult is a simple machine called a lever. It uses a beam balanced on a fixed point (fulcrum) to launch objects. By pulling down one end of the lever and releasing it, the energy is transferred quickly to the other end, launching the object placed there. This project helps us understand basic physics principles like levers, potential energy, and kinetic energy.
