Floating Egg Experiment

Objective

The objective of this project is to demonstrate the concept of density and buoyancy. Students will learn how adding salt to water changes its density and allows an egg to float. This experiment helps students understand the relationship between density and buoyancy.

Scientific interpretation

In this experiment, you will learn about density and buoyancy. Density is how much mass is in a given volume. When you add salt to water, it increases the water’s density. An egg sinks in plain water because it is denser than the water. However, when you add enough salt, the water becomes denser than the egg, making the egg float. This shows how changing the density of a liquid affects the buoyancy of objects in it.
