Objective

The objective of this project is to explore the geometric shapes and properties of bubbles. Students will learn how bubbles can form different shapes when manipulated and how surface tension plays a crucial role in the formation of these shapes. This project encourages an understanding of geometry, physics, and the properties of liquids.

Scientific Interpretation

In this project, students will learn about the scientific concept of surface tension, which is the elastic tendency of liquids that makes them acquire the least surface area possible. When a bubble forms, the surface tension creates a thin film of soap and water, trapping air inside. The shape of the bubble is usually spherical because a sphere has the smallest possible surface area for a given volume, which minimizes the energy required to maintain the bubble. By using different tools like straws and string, students can manipulate bubbles to form various geometric shapes, demonstrating the principles of minimal surface area and the physical properties of liquids.
