Balloon Rocket V2

Objective

The objective of this project is to understand the principles of Newton’s Third Law of Motion through a hands-on activity. Students will learn how forces interact and how action and reaction forces work in the context of a simple balloon rocket. This project aims to enhance students’ comprehension of basic physics concepts while fostering creativity and problem-solving skills.

Scientific interpretation

In this project, you will see Newton’s Third Law of Motion in action, which states, “For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.” When the balloon releases air, it creates a thrust in the opposite direction, pushing the balloon forward along the string. This project demonstrates how rockets work, where the expulsion of gas out of the rocket’s engine creates a force that propels the rocket forward.
