Objective
The objective of this project is to build a simple catapult using basic materials to understand the principles of energy transfer and projectile motion. Students will learn how stored energy in the rubber bands can be converted into kinetic energy to launch objects.
Scientific interpretation
A catapult is a device that uses stored energy to launch a projectile. In this project, the rubber bands store potential energy when they are stretched. When the catapult arm is released, this potential energy is converted into kinetic energy, propelling the projectile (coins) forward. This experiment helps students understand the concepts of energy transfer, force, and motion.
