Objective
To construct a simple arrow shooter using craft materials. This project introduces basic mechanical engineering concepts and demonstrates how potential energy is converted into kinetic energy.
Scientific interpretation
This arrow shooter functions on the principle of elastic potential energy stored in the stretched rubber band. When the rubber band is released, this stored energy is quickly converted into kinetic energy, propelling the skewer forward. This project helps demonstrate how energy transformation works in simple mechanical systems, and by adjusting the tension in the rubber band or the angle of the shooter, students can explore different outcomes in the projectile’s flight path.
