3D Ladder in a Hole

Objective

To create a visual illusion of a three-dimensional ladder in a hole on a flat piece of paper. This project introduces students to the concepts of perspective, optical illusions, and drawing techniques that create depth and realism.

Scientific interpretation

This project explores the science of optical illusions and perspective drawing. Optical illusions occur because our brains interpret images using cues that can sometimes be manipulated to create deceptive or misleading effects. Perspective drawing uses principles from geometry and visual perception to render three-dimensional objects on a two-dimensional surface, making them appear real and three-dimensional to the viewer.
